Who are Pharmacist?

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who practice the science of pharmacy. Pharmacists also participate in disease-state management, where they optimize and monitor the drug therapy or interpret medical laboratory results – in collaboration with physicians and/or other health professionals. Advances into prescribing medication and in providing members of the public with health advice and services are occurring in many countries. Pharmacists have many areas of expertise and are a critical source of medical knowledge in clinics, hospitals, medical laboratories and community pharmacies throughout the world.


How to become a Pharmacist?

To work as a pharmacist one must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, known as a B.Pharm. Pharmacy programs are usually four years long and must be accredited by the Evaluation Committee from Pharmacy Board. To gain admission to Pharmacy School in Malaysia one must have at least 3.0 CGPA for Malayasian Matriculation or Malaysian Certificate of Higher Education with courses including math, chemistry, biology, physics, history and English Language. Sometimes, applicants have to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test. Bachelor of Pharmacy programs include coursework in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology (effects of drugs on the body), toxicology and pharmacy administration.
